Using Web2.0 Technology to Promote Your Website

Part One: Introduction to Web 2.0

As previously mentioned, Web3.0 is coming now, but before it’s getting to our real lives, Web2.0 is still the dominate technology that we use the most in our daily lives, Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Linkedin, etc. So, what is Web 2.0? Let’s start from here.

Actually, the concept of Web 2.0 came out in 2004, by then the wording of Web 1.0 has been in our daily lives already, which is internet and websites. So before we start knowing the differences between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0, we need to understand what Web 1.0 stands for.

Mutual Communication Era

Simply to explain that, Web 1.0 is one-way street for information communication on the road, whereas Web2.0 provides a wider channel which can make information transfer from both ends- the information creator and the information user. In Web2.0, website users can now edit or leave comments after visiting, so the website itself will be edited not only by its creator, but also the users. The best example is Wikipedia.com or normal blogs we are using today.

Search Engine Effect

Based on the concept of Web2.0, UGC (User-Generated-Contents) has been created for internet users to look for information much more effectively than ever. Search engines like Google, Bing are like that. When we started searching for relative information, you can access to as many as thousands of related pieces of information as long as you have typed in the right keywords in the search-bar.

Social Networking Effect

Besides search engines, social networking is one of the most powerful Web2.0 applications as well. The most popular social networking applications are like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc. Within the country of Australia itself, over 75% of the whole national populations are using Facebook or Twitter every day. That means people can always communicate with each other anytime, anywhere though internet.  That’s also where you can put your promotions and spread good words for your best business use.

After all, we have been in the age of Web2.0, and before the real Web3.0 come out, we are already using Facebook, Twitter every day.
